Terms of Use

Short version: this is free general guidance about fishing tackle. Use your own judgement, and follow the rules where you fish.

The recommendations are guidance

Everything TackleChoice produces is general information about fishing tackle, presented as ranges. It is not professional advice and it is not tailored to the specific water, weather or fish in front of you. Conditions, local forage, cover and the size of fish in your water all change what the right setup is.

Regulations take precedence

Fishing seasons, size and bag limits, protected slots, gear restrictions such as barbless or single-hook rules, and license requirements are set by your state fish and wildlife agency, vary by individual water body, and change regularly. Nothing on this site overrides them, and nothing here should be read as confirming that a technique or hook style is legal where you are fishing. Check the current regulations before every trip.

Fishing carries risk

Hooks are sharp, water is dangerous, and boats, ice and surf all carry real risk. You are responsible for your own safety and for the safety of the people with you. TackleChoice is not liable for injury, loss or damage arising from use of the information on this site.

No warranty

The site is provided as is. We work to keep the information accurate and correct it when it is wrong, but we do not warrant that it is complete, current or fit for any particular purpose. Equipment specifications vary by manufacturer and change without notice.

Acceptable use

You are welcome to use the tools, link to any page, and quote from the site with attribution. Please do not scrape the site at a rate that degrades it for other people, and do not republish the content wholesale as your own.

Changes

These terms may be updated as the site develops. Continued use after a change means you accept the current version.
